Over 200 Muslim youths from the Greater Bushenyi Muslim districts completed a three-day training workshop held today at Bassajabalaba Main Mosque in Bushenyi-Ishaka Municipality. Muslim youth from across Greater Bushenyi attended the workshop.
Sheikh Kisheka Iddi Abdulrahman, the Secretary for Daawa (Islamic preaching) in the Bushenyi Muslim District, urged the participants to be good ambassadors in their communities while spreading the word of Allah. He emphasized the core principles of the Islamic faith, moral conduct, Islamic laws, and the importance of knowledge about the attributes of Allah in order to build a disciplined and transformed society.
According to Sheikh Iddi Kisheka, the purpose of the youth workshop was to promote moral uprightness among Muslim youth in Greater Bushenyi. He noted that the initiative aims to equip young people with knowledge, awareness, and guidance toward lawful activities. He warned that many politicians target youth for negative activities, including unrest and misconduct, which can damage their reputation and that of their religion. He stressed that when you reach the youth, you reach their parents and the entire community, because young people are energetic and capable of spreading information widely, influencing both schools and communities.
Sheikh Kisheka added that the workshop marks only the beginning of a broader initiative. He said it serves as a starting point to engage imams, parents, and other stakeholders in efforts to strengthen love for the Islamic faith.
Sheikh Asiram Karakyi, one of the facilitators, urged parents to prioritize education for their children, noting that the best investment is ensuring a strong upbringing and schooling. He further encouraged parents to teach children religious values that promote good morals, love, and fear of God, and urged youth to be role models in their communities by proudly representing their Islamic faith.
Abdulahim bin Majidu from Mitoma District, one of the participants, thanked the office of the District Khazi, through the Secretary for Daawa, for organizing the workshop. He said the training had greatly benefited the youth by teaching them new knowledge and strengthening their growth, including learning how to pray, fear God, respect parents, and love their religion. He added that he plans to share what he learned with fellow youth so they too can grow spiritually and morally and contribute positively to their communities.
Meanwhile, Kyomugisha Fazira from Katerera in Rubirizi District, who represented the female youth participants, thanked the facilitators for their guidance, especially on protecting themselves from harmful influences. She highlighted key lessons from the workshop, including mindset change, Islamic laws that protect human life and property, preventing early marriage and harmful behaviors, and learning how to pray to Allah for guidance and counseling.
